Please ask us about catering for groups and retreats.
The following gives information on meals for people renting a gite during school holidays.
Breakfast
Every morning during the summer, Ali or Dani will go down to the village to pick up your order of fresh bread or croissants which normally you should have by 9am. This is charged per item & added to your bill which must be settled in cash the day before you leave.
La Taillede eggs are also sometimes available; (First come first served!) €3.50 for 6.
Dinner chez Ali & Matt, Wednesday evenings in the summer (in non-covid times only!)
During summer months, we will invite all guests staying with us to join us for dinner in our garden every Wednesday evening at 6pm. We will provide a 2 course buffet, with plenty of choice. For ecological and animal welfare reasons, we prefer to offer a vegetarian menu, using the freshest local produce, including some grown here at La Taillede.
You will be asked the day before if you would like to come and if so, if you have any particular dietary requirements. It’s a perfect opportunity to meet sociably and ask us any questions about the area, and also to meet the La Taillede crew. Drinks are not included so please bring your own.
€20 per adult
€15 teenager (13-17 years old)
€10 child (5-12 years old)
Under 5’s free.
Bon Appétit!
Eating out in Corsavy
The village of Corsavy is 5 minutes from the house or 15 minutes by foot.
Just at the end of our track is the campsite ‘Le Cortsavi’, which has its own restaurant. In the summer months, they offer pizzas every evening, and also on a Tuesday evening they serve paella and Friday Moules-Frites (mussels and chips). Great for young kids as there is a playground right next to the dining terrace.
‘Le Creperie’ is open every day except Mondays. They do savoury and sweet crepes, and plenty of other other dishes, particularly for meat eaters. Tasty food and friendly service by Olivier & Cidalia with a nice terrace outside for taking in the views.
Chez Francoise is the cafe in the centre of the village. Veronique will welcome you with a smile and take good care of you. Simple but tasty local food; cepes omelette/trout/guinea fowl, nice chips and salad, but beware, if you ask for ‘Le Menu’, they will bring you EVERYTHING on the menu! (FYI ‘La Carte’ the word for Menu in French! ) Simple food, wine included and no frills location but always enjoyable.
If you want to go up high into the mountains one morning and build up an appetite on a hike, you could then have lunch at the Refuge de Batere. They are at 1470 metres; it is one of the refuges for walkers on the GR10 which traverses the Pyrenees. Our friends Laure and Garlic will serve you simple mountain food, usually involving delicious fondu cheese from the local sheep farmers at La Cazette (who you will pass on the way up). Definitely worth a visit; incredible views.
Produce
When we have surplus, we can sell you a basket of fresh produce from our garden (often leafy greens; salad, kale etc, tomatoes, radishes, carrots, beetroot, whatever is being harvested). This depends on the time of year, and and how much time we have had to plant! We also could have eggs to sell, again depending on their laying cycle and availability.
Please note that any extras (meals/produce) provided during you stay must be paid for in cash the evening before your departure.
