Using La Taillede as a base there are so many great runs, hikes and bike routes that we decided to start collecting the routes. We will write a brief description of each page and upload the GPX track so you can easily follow it yourself.
Pic de la Souque.
Becca recently did this walk directly from the house and blogged about it, see the post here.
Pic Gallinasse
5 and a half hours-6 hours, lots of uphill! Stunning views, Batere start; see here
Col de L'Estagnol
Another hike directly from the house, lovely view from the top see here
Pic de L'Estelle
From Batere, easy and beautiful see here
Tour de Batere
Good one with kids.. can even take bikes as it is almost flat. There and back, 1 hour max each way. Drive up to Batere and stop at Col de la Descarga (before Gite de Batere). Take the dirt track in front of you; you will see the Tour in the distance on the right. Explore, and come back the same way. You could stop in to buy sheep's cheese at the farm on the way home (during the summer they milk the sheep at 6pm which is fun for the kids to watch).
Tour de Corsavy
Another easy one, good for kids. You could walk into the village for a coffee and visit the Tour on the way back. From La Taillede, head down the track towards the village. Take the 3rd track going off to the right, signposted 'Tour de Corsavy'. You will find the tour at the end of this track. There and back, 90 mins walking slowly.
Chateau de Montferrer
Why not visit our neighbouring village and have a walk to the ruined chateau see here
Gorges de La Fou
Just outside Arles Sur tech on the main road up the valley towards Le Tech, is the start of the impressive walk up the Gorge. You won't miss the sign on the right. It's about 1 hours walk to the end, then back down the same way; An easy walk with hand rail, some steps up. Adults pay €10, kids over 5 year old €5. Great on a hot day as it's cool! You can get drinks and snacks there too. Gorges de La Fou
Walking with goats!
If Ali is available, a relaxed walk with the goats is possible. For the shepherd within! Goat walk
Each gite has maps with walking routes on them for your use during your stay. The walks above are just a small selection of the hikes possible in the area.
Runs:
To be added soon!
Batere.
From the campsite the road climbs up the valley to Batere. This road is fairly gentle and a great run or bike ride.
I'm currently using it as my training run for the Bearman Ironman as it has a decent climb and there are very few cars on it.
The refuge at the top is open throughout the summer and is on the GR10 as well.
